Thema Capital

Thus, the fascination for a Mediterranean in its real representations, and also in its imaginary representations would be transmitted to me. The Mediterranean Sea is, for me, a representation of the being. This is why I write it with a capital letter. Taking this expression literally, I consider it is Major, and make it lead what I am and what I do. It symbolises the complexity of life and of the world, and also our desire to challenge this complexity in the same time. It bears in itself the mise en abyme, the quest of the depth and of a sort of South of the South.

This Mediterranean theatre fascinates me because since the time of classical tragedy, it has represented one of the major contributions, from the Mediterranean area to the universal art. I have real roots with the Mediterranean (I will call them genealogy) and also imaginary roots that are maybe dug deeper. I realised it the very day someone showed me a copy of the “armas de Garcia”, of the south of Spain where my ancestors were born and from where Columbus and his men went away with a general called Garcia with his caravels.

It is, and I make it be my “deep homeland” like Edgar Morin says, the one that will direct my job with its theatres and it theatricalities that are directly or indirectly given over to it.
