Photos :
Christian Jardi was born in Béziers in 1949; Christian Jardi creates images that belong to 2 major lines: lands of Beziers photographs, which illustrate one of Marie Rouanet’s books “Béziers dans ses vignes”.
Then, he teamed up with J-F Pujol, for an audio-visual production for which he received many awards in some festivals (Angoulême, Epinal, Toulouse, Amsterdam, Berne, Hambourg…)
He has the International Federation of Photographic Arts degree.
I had collaborated with the specialist Christian Jardi in the 80s as a model, and I collaborated with him once again for the book “Faire-Part à la vie à la mort!”, dedicated to Bartabas and the horse, a book into which black and white photographs and texts watch each other.
Photographic subjects are everywhere, accessible to everyone, but I don’t know why, I am often the only one to see them, and to catch them. Yes, I am a sort of picture catcher, for I do not always look for a precise target. I prefer walking toward a new subject. Then, the delight to discover is followed by the pleasure to realize.
The major motivation that every photographer share is the fixation of the instant, the fight against the time. I known, the fight is unequal. Never mind, if we can snatch one little second from the run of time, let us dream.
How many photographs, picked so many years ago, became documents since I cannot modify them? How many streets have changed in Béziers since 40 years that I have been photographing them? I still have to discover them. I still have to show the mark of the seasons, the delicate shadows, the abstract glint, the mottled fogs, the symbolic profiles…
